Remote jobs & surviving winter!

Hey Reader,

Sam and Teri-Anne, checking in from Thailand 👋 How are you doing?

Now that summer is coming to a close, are you sad to see it go, or like me (TA), is Autumn your favourite season? 🍂

What's New On The Blog?

Sam has published his first article on the site! 🥳 He dives into the topic of Winter Vanlife, where he covers everything from the planning phase of your campervan build and winterising tips for your van, to vital gear and safety considerations and general advice on tackling common day-to-day challenges.

As an avid reader, I like to share what I’ve been reading/listening to each month and how I find new books or pick new topics.

Audiobooks are also an excellent journey companion! I use Bookshop.org (to support local bookshops and charities), Kindle Unlimited, Spotify Premium and my local library app Borrow Box to devour as many books as possible.

Bookmark our online store for inspiration and future reads. If you're looking for something special for a fellow bookworm, look no further than a Bookshop Gift Card.

My favourite book this month was:

Mean Spirited by Nick Roberts

Follow the story of an alcoholic teacher and father whose life spirals out of control after a former student is killed. He inherits her dog, Conehead, and becomes haunted by a dark presence that follows them. The book explores themes of guilt, redemption, and the supernatural, as the protagonist grapples with his past and the eerie occurrences that threaten his sanity.

Where We Roam 🇹🇭

No matter where our travels take us, I immerse myself in at least one book that originates from our current location or is penned by a local author. This month, here's the literary gem from Thailand:

The Blind Earthworm in the Labyrinth by Veeraporn Nitiprapha

On the day Chareeya is born, her mother discovers her father has been having an affair with a traditional Thai dancer. From that moment, Chareeya's life is fated to carry the weight of her parent's disappointment. With her sister, Chalika, she grows up in an insular world, until joined by Pran, and together they navigate the labyrinth of their own making, each trying to escape their fate.

A L I E N 👽

With the release of the new Alien movie last month, I decided my reading theme would be sci-fi.

Ripe by James Hider

Ripe is a tale of an apocalyptic alien invasion where Earth becomes the target of unfriendly extraterrestrials. The story weaves through the lives of several main characters, including Scottish psychologist Elspeth McGann and her enigmatic patient, Lester Rains, who claims to have lived for 2,000 years.

All three books this month are available on Kindle Unlimited.

See you in a couple of weeks with the travel journal! xoxo

I'm not jealous, at all 😭 ok, maybe a little. It's going to be a warm Halloween for us this year, I wonder if Phuket can match the party vibes of Maui.
